Your first 5 window tint customers and where to find them - friends and family, car meets, referral partners, Google Business Profile

You've learned to tint. Now you need people to tint for. Your first five customers matter more than any others: they give you reps, reviews and photos, and they start the word-of-mouth that fills your calendar. Here are four practical ways new installers land their first paying jobs.

1. Start With Friends and Family (But Still Charge)

Offer the people you know a discounted install. In exchange, ask for an honest Google review and permission to take before-and-after photos. Still charge something, even if it's just enough to cover the film. It sets the tone that this is a business, and people who pay tend to tell their friends.

2. Show Up Where Car People Already Are

Car meets, cruise nights and car clubs are full of people who care about how their vehicles look. Bring a sample kit with a few film shades and photos of your work on your phone. Online, join local car groups and community groups on Facebook, post finished jobs (with the owner's okay), and answer questions helpfully instead of just dropping prices.

3. Build Referral Partners

Detail shops, PPF and wrap installers, used car lots and dealerships all have customers asking about tint. Many of them don't offer it. Walk in, introduce yourself and leave a card. Offer a simple referral thank-you or a dealer rate for steady work. One good partner can send you jobs every week.

4. Get Found Online With a Google Business Profile

Set up a free Google Business Profile with your service area, hours, phone number and photos. When someone near you searches "window tint near me," that's where they look first. Then ask every happy customer for a review right after the job, while they're still excited about the car.

Bonus Tip: Know Your Local Tint Laws

Know your local tint laws before you quote. Telling a customer what's legal on their front windows builds trust fast.
