Why Scorpion Window Film on a High-End Car?
A Porsche 911 owner notices every detail, and frameless door glass is one of the hardest places to hide a mistake. That's why the film you choose matters as much as your technique. As Adam puts it in the video:
"One of the reasons why we always use Scorpion on this is because adhesive is a lot more intense. So there's a lot more use, there's a lot more wear and tear on these frameless windows. So we want a window film that has a lot better tack, has a lot longer longevity on it, and to stick to the glass."
A More Intense Adhesive
Frameless windows see more use than ordinary framed door glass. The glass moves against the seals every time the door opens and closes. A film with a more intense adhesive is built to stay put under that extra wear and tear.
Better Tack
Better tack helps the film grip the glass. Adam also tacks the film in place before cutting, so it doesn't slide while he trims the pattern on the outside of the window.
Longer Longevity
On a high-end car, the customer expects the tint to last. Longer longevity, and a film that sticks to the glass, is a big part of why Scorpion is the film we reach for on luxury car window tint.

What Is Scorpion 35 Carbon?
Scorpion 35 Carbon is the Scorpion window film used on this Porsche 911. In the video, Adam rolls it out, lines it up on the glass and cuts the pattern for the frameless door window. If you want the same film for your own shop, you can order it at buyscorpion.com. Before you choose a shade for front side windows, always check the window tint laws where the vehicle is registered.
Porsche 911 Window Tint: Why Frameless Glass Is Different
When you open a 911's door, the frameless window drops down slightly. There's no frame around the top of the glass, so the top edge of the film is on show, and the bottom of the film has to go behind the seal. If you close the door the wrong way while the window is "tricked" up, you could actually snap the glass.
How We Install Scorpion Film on Frameless Windows: Step by Step
Here's the process from the video, following the chapters.
1. Trick the Door Latch So the Window Stays Up (0:32)
Before prepping, Adam tricks the window so it thinks the door is closed. With the door open, he brings his knife inside the latch and pops it up. Now the window stays up, so when he cuts and installs the film there won't be any gaps at the bottom. Be careful here: if you close the door in this state, it could snap the glass.
2. Prep the Glass (1:01)
Clean the outside first, then move to the inside prep. Most of the dirt sits along the top of the glass, so scrub-pad that area well and wipe everything off.
3. Measure and Cut Scorpion 35 Carbon (1:29)
Roll out the Scorpion 35 Carbon and line it up on the outside of the glass. Adam uses the factory edge of the film as the bottom edge, so there's no bottom cut to make. He tacks the film in so it doesn't slide, makes the side cut, then anchors the film for a clean top cut. Finally he rounds off the corners, rounding the small hook on the side locally rather than straightening it, so there are no light gaps.
4. Heat-Shrink the Film on the Outside of the Glass (3:15)
With the glass sprayed, place the film on the outside with a little overlap, about two finger-widths on each side. Anchor the film, gather the fingers that form, and shrink them down without putting too much force on the film. Adam then does a second shrink focused on the top of the window, splitting the fingers so none come up through the top. Check for anything that pops up before moving on.
5. Install the Film Behind the Seal (6:54)
Spray the outside to minimize dirt and debris, then spray the inside and get behind the seal. Peel the liner from the top corner, bring the film up on either side, drop it down below the seal and slide it into place.
6. Squeegee: Light Pass, Then Full Pressure (8:10)
Do a light squeegee first, across the top, down the centre and out the side. Then do it again, this time pushing as hard as you can. Make sure everything is flush across the bottom.
7. Seal the Edges With a Hard Card and Microfiber (9:10)
Wrap a microfiber cloth around a hard card and go around all the edges. Warm and push them up so everything is tacked in and the excess water comes out. Wipe everything down so water doesn't sit on the door.
8. Close the Door Safely (9:46)
Because the window is still tricked up, lift the door before you close it so the glass pops back down in the right spot. Then close it tightly, and you're good to go.
