Winter in Calgary changes how window tint goes on and how long it takes to cure. Here are four cold-weather tips for installers in Calgary and across Alberta, plus details on our 2-day hands-on Calgary window tint course on November 21–22, 2026.
4 Tips for Tinting in Cold Weather
1. Work in a heated bay.
Cold glass and cold film are harder to work with. Bring the vehicle inside and give the glass time to come up to room temperature before you start, especially after it has been sitting outside overnight.
2. Keep your film and solution indoors.
Film left in a cold truck or trailer gets stiff and is harder to shrink and position. Store rolls and your slip solution in the heated shop so they're ready to use.
3. Watch for condensation.
When cold glass comes into a warm bay, moisture can form on it. Let the glass warm up and wipe it dry before your final clean, or that moisture ends up under the film.
4. Expect longer cure times.
Water under the film takes longer to evaporate when it's cold outside. Some haze is normal at first, so tell customers what to expect and to leave roll-down windows up for the time you recommend.
