Montreal Window Tint Certification: Class Details
- Dates: Saturday–Sunday, November 28–29, 2026
- Hours: 9:00 AM–5:00 PM each day
- Venue: Place Nobel, 1999 Rue Nobel, Sainte-Julie, QC J3E 1Z7
- Format: 2 full days, about 80% hands-on, on real vehicles, in a small group
- Experience needed: None. The course teaches the process from the beginning.
Training groups are intentionally limited. Smaller classes mean more time working directly with instructors, asking questions, practising installations and correcting mistakes during training, instead of watching from the sidelines.
What You'll Learn Over Two Days
Day 1: Foundations and Side Windows
- Tint theory and fundamentals, and working with customers
- Installation drills
- Framed roll-down windows (2-stage) and frameless roll-down windows
- Quarter windows
- Tint removal, sun strips and banners
- Marketing and business fundamentals
Day 2: Rear Windows and Complete Vehicles
- Review and additional hands-on practice on roll-down and quarter windows
- Hatchback and sedan rear window preparation and installation
- Rear window tint removal
- Trucks and SUVs
- Plotter overview and an introduction to residential window film
- Marketing, pricing and booking customers
Across both days you'll also work on glass cleaning and vehicle preparation, film types and film handling, hand cutting, heat shrinking, bottom-loading, multiple installation methods, contamination prevention, edge finishing, and how to avoid bubbles and other common installation mistakes.
Watch: Two Back Window Mistakes to Avoid
The rear window is usually the hardest part of a tint job, and it's a big part of Day 2. In this short, Adam from Tint Academy explains two of the most common back window mistakes: skipping a proper dry shrink, so the film can't float on the glass, and not building four quadrants that act like four small windows.
How to Build the H Pattern on a Back Window
Here's the quadrant method in action. You build an H pattern in the film, then come straight down the centre at the antenna line. That gives you four quadrants that behave like four small roll-down windows, so the film is much easier to shrink.

Quebec Window Tint Laws Every New Installer Should Know
Quebec has some of the most specific front-window rules in Canada, so you need to know them before you quote a job. Here's what the regulation and the SAAQ say:
- Front side windows (each side of the driver's compartment): must admit 70% or more light when measured with a photometer (Regulation respecting safety standards for road vehicles, s. 64). Because the photometer reads the window as installed (factory glass plus film), a film labelled "70%" isn't automatically legal on glass that already has a factory tint.
- Mirror finishes: no mirror-like material may be affixed to or sprayed on any window (s. 63).
- Windshield: no darkening material, except a strip no more than 15 cm wide at the top.
- Rear side windows and rear window: according to the SAAQ, these are not subject to the 70% standard.
- Fines: the SAAQ lists a fine of $100 to $200 for the driver and owner of a passenger vehicle when the front side windows let through less than 70% of light.
Sun strips and windshield banners are part of Day 1, so you'll practise exactly the kind of top strip Quebec allows. This is general information, not legal advice; always check the current rules before each job.
