Once you can install window film, the next question is always the same: what should you charge to tint a full car? The honest answer is that it depends on the film, the vehicle and your local market, but you shouldn't be guessing. Below are typical 2026 price ranges for sedans, SUVs, trucks and windshields, what moves the price up or down, and the pricing mistake that costs new tinters the most.
If you're still finding your first jobs, start with our guide to landing your first 5 window tint customers.
How much does it cost to tint a full car in 2026?
Sedan (side windows + rear glass)
- Dyed film: about $150–$250
- Carbon film: about $250–$450
- Ceramic film: about $400–$800+
SUV or pickup truck
- Dyed film: about $200–$350
- Carbon film: about $300–$600
- Ceramic film: about $500–$900
Full front windshield
About $150–$400 on its own, usually quoted as an add-on.
These are typical U.S. estimates summarized from 2026 public price guides (TintScout, SalesThumb, Car Toys, TintFinder). They vary by market, shop, film brand and vehicle, and Canadian pricing is in CAD and differs by city. Use them as a starting point, then check what shops near you charge.
What moves the price of a tint job
- Film type. Dyed is the budget option, carbon sits in the middle, and ceramic is the premium choice with the best heat rejection. It's the biggest single swing in price.
- The vehicle. More glass means more film and more time. Big SUVs, crew-cab trucks and large or steeply curved rear windows cost more than a compact sedan.
- Your local market. Prices are generally higher in big, high-cost cities than in smaller towns. Call or check a few shops near you so you know where your town sits.
- Brand and warranty. Premium film brands with a lifetime warranty cost more than entry-level film, and customers will pay for that peace of mind.
- Extras. Removing old, bubbled or purple film and adding a windshield are usually priced separately, so quote them as add-ons.
The beginner mistake to avoid: underpricing
When you're new, it's tempting to be the cheapest tint in town. It feels like the fastest way to get booked, but it usually backfires:
- You attract price shoppers who'll leave the moment someone is $20 cheaper.
- There's no margin for quality film, so you end up installing cheaper product.
- There's no room to redo a window when something goes wrong, and when you're learning, something will.
- Raising your prices later is harder than starting at a fair price.
A discount for your first friends-and-family jobs in exchange for reviews and photos is fine. Making cheap your whole business model isn't. Instead:
- Find out what established shops near you charge, and price within that range.
- Offer good, better, best (dyed, carbon, ceramic) so the customer chooses the level, not the discount.
- Price the job, not your time. A beginner taking longer isn't the customer's problem, but it isn't a reason to work for free either.
- Charge for old-film removal and windshields as separate add-ons.
