How to Squeegee Window Tint Without Bubbles
Window film is installed wet. A slip solution lets you position the film on the glass, and the squeegee pushes that solution back out. How you squeegee decides whether the finished job looks clean or full of bubbles, water pockets and lifted edges.
- Start in the middle. Anchor the film with one stroke through the centre, then work outward toward the edges so the water has a path out.
- Overlap every stroke. Each pass should cover part of the last one. Gaps between strokes leave water pockets behind.
- Use firm, steady pressure. Light, fast strokes skate over the solution instead of pushing it out.
- Finish the edges last. Once the middle is set, go around the edges with a hard card so they lie flat and sealed.
- Check from an angle. Look at the film under good light before you call it done. Problems are much easier to fix while the film is still wet.
